Have you seen it somewhere online or offline in a trusted source’s article or magazine where you read that you can use canola oil as lube? Or maybe, someone recommended the use of canola oil as a good lubricant in the room? And you need to verify it? You are at the right place for the right and accurate verification.
How does it sounds when you read or heard that Canola Oil is an option? Does it also helps in fertility issues? Well, I have also heard Doctors recommending Canola oil for TTC (Trying To Conceive) couples, but it sounds ‘somehow’ to me. The Vagina and Oils are not friends. Today’s topic is solely written to clarify if you can really use Canola Oil as lube for Anal sex or Vaginal sex or Oral sex.
Initially, I was surfing the internet and decided to check the yahoo answers’ page. I got there and discovered someone’s question. The person was asking a similar question that we are going to look at today. He asked…
“Can I use canola oil as lube? If Yes, How Safe?”.
This is a two-in-one question. And we will both tackle it from the root. Before I go on and tell you what I have discovered about this canola oil. First of all, note that I am NOT a doctor, but a medical student. So, all I will be putting on here are NOT to replace advice from professionals or medical doctors. All I did was accurate findings and research before thinking of posting this here for you to read and understand.

Let us tackle Canola oil from What is it and How it is gotten. What are its contents and its character as an oil. Its Popular uses and Benefits. The last, but not the least, the Pros And Cons when you use canola oil as lube.
What Is Canola Oil?
Most oils that are around us today are gotten or extracted from their seeds. Some are healthy and some are not. Some are good for our health in general while others are just junk that causes one problem or the other.
The oils we are looking at are specifically, one of the Cooking Oils. We mostly use in our homes for cooking, frying, baking, and other food preparations. It is also a very good oil that goes well with Salad Dressing. By now, I use it sparingly. Continue reading to know why…
How Is Canola Oil Gotten?
Oils such as Olive oil is extracted from Olive seed. Grape Seed Oil is extracted from Grape Seed. And one more, the Sesame seed oil is for sure gotten from Sesame seed. But, what about Canola Oil? Your guess…. you are thinking of saying “canola oil is gotten from ‘canola’ seeds!”
No. It is NOT gotten from canola seed. No seed on earth that exist with the name “
canola seed” too. I noted this information when I was searching for days about Healthy Vegetable Oils.
According to Dr. Axe’s website,
Canola is a made-up word which stands for “Canadian oil low acid”, and is a genetically modified product.
It is a Canadian invention that is backed by the government. It is actually gotten from rapeseed plant – a plant categorized as one of the mustard family.

Distinctive Character Of Canola Oil
Its smoking point is at 204 Degrees Centigrade. And it has 6% saturated fats, 62 % monosaturated fat and 32% Polysaturated fat. To be sincere with you, this Canola oil is an inexpensive oil to produce. It is a good oil, BUT has been genetically modified.
The initially healthy Omega-3 fatty acids has been changed into trans fats acids. So, it can last longer than before! And you and I know that these trans fat acids are NOT good for our life-pumping machine – THE HEART.
As of writing this post, NO rooted medical studies on the effects of Canola oil on the long run (for years to come). But, there are some little findings that shows that points accusing finger to. Since then, I use it sparingly. I mean occasionally with foods.
Reasons Why Canola Oil Is NOT A Totally Healthy Oil For You?Let us look at it this way…
1. Natural Stuff:
Do you prefer natural stuffs? I mean things that occurs in their natural forms? Yes, I do. I prefer to use things in its natural form than when it has subjected to some chemicals or preservatives. Canola oil has been partially hydrogenated. Coconut oil, Palm Oil and others are good substitute of Canola oil in the kitchen. BUT, THEY ARE ALL NOT FOR THE BEDROOM.
2. Advice From Health Institutes:
According to WikiPedia On Cooking Oil,
“… The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and World Heart Federation have urged saturated fats be replaced with polyUNsaturated and monoUNsaturated fats. “
From the quote, note the “UN” letters. But still, this Rapeseed Oil has 6% saturated fats, 62 % monosaturated fat and 32% Polysaturated fat – No “UN”. Hope you got it? From these two facts above, it is better to be safe than sorry. Now, if something is harmful to your heart, do you think you can use canola oil as lube on your members (your penis or vagina)?
The Question still remains “Can I Use Canola Oil As Lube?”
Some people have been using Canola oil for long in the room as lube and it has been fine. But, they have to know that they are doing themselves more harm than good. It is better you stop using Canola oil as lube if you have been using it. I was once guilty of this offence too.
There are three kinds that all lubricants are all categorized under. We have the
- Water Based lubricants,
- Silicone Based Lubricants and
- Oil Based Lubricants.
Generally, all vegetable oils ( i.e cooking oils) and mineral Oils (i.e Vaseline, Baby Oil) are classified under Oil Based Lubricants because they are oily in nature. They exhibits almost same characteristics when used.
The Water Based lubes are the top recommended lubes because of safety and user-friendliness. Re-application may be required. Followed by Silicone Based lubes, but only one down side that they are not compatible with Silicone-made sex toys. But, the oil based lubricants such as Olive Oil, Canola Oil are NOT recommended for anal sex or vaginal sex. This is because they have a lot of CONS than Pros.
